Curriculum Focus

Our toddler curriculum blends the structure toddlers crave with the freedom they need to grow. Through movement-rich activities, practical life work, early language experiences, sensorial materials, music, and guided social interaction, toddlers begin learning how to express themselves, solve problems, care for their environment, and navigate friendships.

Daily Routine

Toddler days at Spectrum Montessori are steady, warm, and predictable, the kind of rhythm that helps children feel anchored and brave enough to try new things. They enjoy hands-on Montessori work, outdoor play, self-care routines, early math and language exploration, and the chance to participate in real-life tasks that make them feel capable and important.

Classroom Experience

Our toddler classrooms are intentionally arranged for children who are always on the move. With open spaces for climbing and balancing, low shelves for independent choosing, child-sized sinks and tables for early self-care, and materials that invite focus and pride. With calm, encouraging guidance from Montessori-trained guides, toddlers learn how to manage big feelings, practice kindness, develop coordination, and build the confidence needed to thrive in the Primary classroom and beyond.

About Our Montessori Toddler Program

Toddlerhood is a remarkable season of life, full of determination, big feelings, growing independence, and an endless desire to explore. At Spectrum Montessori, we understand that this stage comes with both excitement and uncertainty for parents, and we're here to make it feel grounded and reassuring. With thoughtfully prepared environments, patient Montessori-trained guides, and routines that honor each child's pace, we offer far more than traditional toddler care. We give your child a warm, structured space where independence, confidence, and joyful discovery can take root.

From 18 Months to 3 Years: Child Development Support for Every Stage

These months are filled with big developmental strides, new words, new friendships, new emotions, and a growing eagerness to explore their world more independently. Our Toddler Program is designed to help your toddler meet those milestones with calm guidance, meaningful activities, and an environment that supports curious, busy minds. Whether your child is learning to communicate, mastering early self-care routines, or practicing how to be part of a group, they are supported, understood, and encouraged every step of the way.

Language Development

Toddlers have so much to say, and we nurture that growing voice with warm conversations, gentle storytelling, songs, and rich language woven naturally into the day. With picture cards, early vocabulary lessons, and meaningful exchanges with guides and friends, children build communication skills that help them share ideas, express feelings, and better understand their world.

Growing Independence Through Practical Life

Toddlers love being part of real-life moments, and our Practical Life work gives them thoughtful ways to participate. Pouring water, wiping spills, preparing snacks, caring for plants, and putting on their own shoes help little ones build confidence, fine motor skills, and the early foundations for caring for themselves and others.

Sensorial Exploration In Our Montessori Classrooms

At this age, toddlers take in the world with every sense, and our sensorial materials help them explore those discoveries with purpose. Through color tablets, texture boards, sound bottles, and early matching work, children learn to compare, sort, and make sense of the beautiful details around them.

Fine Motor Development For Early Childhood

Little hands are always eager to try new things, and we support that natural drive with activities that strengthen hand-eye coordination and finger control. Threading, scooping, transferring objects, and simple art experiences give toddlers the steady practice they need for later writing and more refined work in the Primary classroom.

Gross Motor Skills & Movement

Movement is a toddler's way of learning, so our days are filled with opportunities to climb, balance, carry, push, pull, and practice early coordination. With both indoor and outdoor spaces designed for active bodies, toddlers build physical confidence and a growing awareness of what their bodies can do.

Social-Emotional Growth

These are the years when toddlers begin understanding friendships, feelings, and the give-and-take of being part of a community. Through turn-taking activities, shared work, and gentle guidance from our guides, toddlers learn empathy, patience, and early problem-solving with others.

Early Cognitive Skills & Problem-Solving

Toddlers learn by exploring cause and effect, ordering objects, counting aloud, and making simple classifications, and our Montessori materials are designed precisely for this kind of thinking. These activities strengthen focus, memory, and the early logical reasoning skills that support learning throughout the early years.

Toilet Learning & Self-Care In A Nurturing Environment

We follow a calm, respectful toilet-learning process that supports children when they are ready. With small toilets, low sinks, and patient routines, toddlers practice early self-care in a way that feels natural, empowering, and free from pressure or rewards.

Predictable Routines & Emotional Security

A steady rhythm helps toddlers feel safe, and we build each day around familiar routines that offer comfort and clarity. With warm transitions, simple rituals, and supportive guides, children gain the emotional grounding they need to explore the world with confidence.

Exploration in Prepared Classroom Environments

Our toddler classrooms at Woodbury and Portola Springs are designed with this age in mind, open spaces for movement, low shelves for independent choosing, and hands-on materials perfect for curious learners. Every detail is intentional, inviting toddlers to explore freely, take ownership of their learning, and build the confidence that prepares them beautifully for the Primary classroom.

We transferred our daughter here when we found out Ms. Jaimee was joining the school. She led a great charge at the school we, previously, attended. She positively changed the environment, brought a wonderful learning and fun atmosphere, and hired some exceptional staff. On top of that, meeting with Ms Josie put it over the top. Wonderful educator in every sense. Excited for our daughter to thrive here.

We have tried two other preschools in our area for our son and daughter and nothing compares to Spectrum Montessori. The beautiful facilities that are so well taken care of are wonderful, but what truly shines is the teachers and administrators. Their love and care for each and every child that comes through their doors is truly unmatched. Mrs. Brenda is a phenomenal Director and takes the time to know each student and their families, always being available and encouraging at every step. Ms. Cassy and Ms. Monse are our daughter's teachers and I cannot tell you how much they have changed how our daughter sees school. She is excited at every drop off and every pick up she is chatting about her day and all of the things she got to do. Our daughter has truly blossomed and feels like part of a community at Spectrum Montessori. We are so lucky to have found this school!
